Have you wondered why the State Government has nominated Ivanhoe as an Activity Centre? Much of it is based on population projections for Melbourne over the next 20 years.

State Government, through their 'Victoria in Future' review has population projections for each municipality. Victoria in Future (or VIF) is the Victorian Governments official projection of population and households across Victoria. You can find projections for Banyule here:

In summary, the projections for Banyule are that population will increase by approximately 10,000 people by 2026.

State Government are not presciptive about where the population should be catered for; that's up to each Council to find appropriate sites for development and/or higher density residential housing. There are no specific population projections for Ivanhoe.
