From last week Age, this article continues the discussion on the state government's proposed new residential zones: http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/politics/danger-zone-planning-the-citys-future-must-include-consultation-20120713-221gk.html...
Development site 1-5 Westley Avenue, 2 Ivanhoe Parade and 16 Seddon Street, Ivanhoe.
In February this year The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Victoria) gained approval for two, seven storey mixed use buildings. These would accommodate 87 dwellings, three retail tenancies (fronting Seddon Street), a licensed food and drink premises (café), community space (place of assembly), a reduction in car parking and the removal of approximately 15 trees.
This week Roger Gough, CEO of 'Harrison Care', the development arm of the Uniting Church, confirmed that the development will no longer proceed due to an inability to secure financing.
We understand that should the project not go ahead the control of that sites goes back to the local Uniting Church parish.
