Community Workshops - save the dates

The next community workshops are pencilled in for 22 & 24 March (times to be confirmed) and one in April. We expect the workshops will be similar to those held just prior to Christmas where Rob McGuaran from MGS Architects presented his proposals for the nominated 'opportunity sites'. Darebin Station and Coles Plaza precincts were discussed in these workshops.

This leaves Lower Heidelberg Rd/ Marshall St area, Upper Heidelberg Rd shopping strip, Ivanhoe Station and the Civic Centre precincts.

The Community Consultative Committee (CCC) met in late November and provided further feedback regarding proposals for Darebin Station, Coles Plaza  and Lower Heidelberg Rd/ Marshall St precincts and had some initial discussion regarding Ivanhoe Station and Norman St precincts.

We understand further work has been undertaken on the plan and will be presented at the March / April workshops for residents discussion and feedback.

The Save Ivanhoe Residents Group provided extensive feedback to Council on Rob McGuaran's recommendations in December and we will do so again after the next workshops. All Residents are strongly encouraged to attend the workshops and ensure their say on the development proposals.

In the meantime there is a CCC meeting being held on 21st February. The Save Ivanhoe Residents Group will have two representatives at that meeting and we should have a better understanding of the next steps and timetable after that.

New draft plan likely release  May/June

Continuing  resident participation is critical in the work still to be done and shaping the new draft plan that is likely to be released in May/June. Our understanding is that once the draft is released the community will have another opportunity to provide feedback to Council regarding its suitability.

All residents need to keep informed,  make sure that you have your say at the workshops and talk with Council regarding Ivanhoe’s future development. While the 2nd draft is due in the May timeframe do not expect there will necessarily be a 3rd draft.

Do not rely on others doing this for you as you may be disappointed.

SI will keep you as informed as to what is happening. We look forward to seeing you and your neighbours at the community workshops and gathering your further input to ensure a constructive community outcome for Ivanhoe
